Variants:
- Grit 50 (coarse):
Roughing out, rapid shaping, significant material removal, correction of shapes or major irregularities. Surface preparation prior to finer work.

- Grit 180 (medium/fine)
Intermediate or finishing work, more precise sharpening, more even surfaces. Preparation before polishing.
Ideal for reducing marks left by coarse grain.

Carbide powder is a technical abrasive used for sharpening and finishing cutting tools. It is particularly valued for its high hardness and its ability to effectively work even very hard steel.
Used with a suitable honing surface (flat plate, metal support, cast iron, thick glass), it allows for dressing, rectifying or refining the cutting edge of tools such as wood chisels, plane irons, blades or specialized cutting tools.

Two grains are offered:
- Grain 50: coarse abrasive, intended for roughing work, repairing damaged cutting edges or initial shaping.
- Grit 180: finer abrasive, used for precision sharpening, finishing or pre-polishing before a very fine grit or abrasive paste.

The powder is generally used with a lubricant (oil or water depending on the practice) in order to optimize the abrasive action and avoid overheating.
