This natural sharpening stone, originating from Ariège, is a schistose sandstone renowned for its fineness and consistency. Extracted using traditional methods and still hand-cut in the south of France, it offers consistent quality and excellent control during sharpening.

Its smooth, fine grit (1500–2000), combined with high mineralogical purity, allows for precise and controlled sharpening, even on hard steels such as high-speed steel (HSS). Usable with water or oil (Kerdane), it adapts to the practices of every craftsman.

A rounded edge is specially designed for the internal sharpening of sculptor's gouges, facilitating the work of complex profiles and V-shaped tools.
