Already in the 19th century, some English tool manufacturers offered circular blade marking gauges because they offered more precision in marking compared to traditional pointed marking gauges. In addition to its precision, this marking gauge also enjoys an excellent grip thanks to its beautiful wooden insert with a bulge. A flat on the circumference of the brass plate will prevent the marking gauge from rolling and falling off the workbench.
