This flat natural sharpening stone, originating from Ariège, is a schistous sandstone renowned for its fineness and mineralogical purity. Extracted using traditional methods and still hand-cut in the south of France, it offers consistent quality and excellent control during sharpening.

Its soft, fine grit (1500–2000) allows for precise and controlled sharpening, perfectly suited for maintaining and finishing cutting edges. It is also suitable for hard steels, including high-speed steel (HSS). Usable with water or oil (Kerdane), it adapts to individual working habits.
