This multi-shaped sharpening stone is made of silicon carbide (carborundum), a material known for its high hardness and strong abrasive power, just below diamond.
It is particularly suitable for roughing out sharpening, even on very hard steels, such as high-speed steels (HSS) or tungsten carbide.

Its conical section combined with a multi-profile shape — including a rounded edge and a beveled edge — allows for the efficient sharpening of the majority of sculptor's tools: gouges, chisels, mortise chisels and tools with complex profiles.

The stone can be used:
into the water,
petroleum (kerdane type),
or with fine oil,
depending on the user's habits and the type of sharpening desired.
