Rectangular stone used for finishing cabinetmaker's chisels, plane irons and sculptor's clasps. Natural Arkansas stones are dense, fine-grained, intended for finishing sharpening. Generally used with fine oil (e.g., camellia oil), they are certainly less abrasive than Japanese stones of equivalent grit, but much more resistant to wear. The Arkansas stones we offer are natural stones and may, as such, have slight irregularities in appearance, without affecting their use. These stones originate from the Ouachita Mountains in the United States. Very fine grit (6000-8000).
