The Japanese Kataba 250 mm saw is a backless saw, designed to cut by pulling, which allows for a smoother, more precise and often cleaner progression than with a traditional push saw.

It comes in two tooth variations depending on the type of cut you wish to make:
🔹 Through-grain teeth: tighter tooth profile (1.4 mm) designed for cuts perpendicular to the wood grain — ideal for crosscutting, crosscutting or preparing sharp angles.
🔹 Grain direction teeth: tooth spacing 2.2 / 3.4 mm, optimized for longitudinal cuts along the fibers, perfect for ripping or cutting long pieces, with a neat finish.

Each variant is mounted on a 250 mm long, 60 mm high and 0.5 mm thick blade, hardened for better cutting performance and extended lifespan.

The wooden handle covered in rattan combines lightness, a comfortable grip and traditional Japanese aesthetics.
