- Sharpening: although delivered sharpened at the factory, these gouges can be sharpened; use water stones or abrasives adapted to the angled profile to maintain a sharp edge without altering the original geometry.
- Handle maintenance: if the handle is made of wood, occasionally apply wood oil or wax to maintain comfort and durability.
- Dry storage: keep the tool in a dry place or in a case/protective cover to prevent oxidation and protect the sharp edges.
