Product care instructions:
- Clean after use: wipe away wood chips and dust to protect the cutting edge.
- Dry thoroughly: keep the tool dry to limit corrosion of the metal parts.
- Sharpening: although sharpened and polished at the factory, these gouges can be sharpened; you can use water stones or abrasives adapted to the specific profiles (respecting the "counter-angled" shape) to maintain or restore the edge.
- Maintaining the handle: if the gouge has a wooden handle, applying a natural oil or wax from time to time will help preserve the appearance and ergonomics.
- Storage: keep the tool in a dry and protected place (cases, stands) to avoid shocks and alterations to the cutting edge.

The Pfeil Swiss made Series No. 20 offset gouge is a high-end carving tool designed to work areas that straight or traditional gouges cannot easily reach — particularly in cavities, re-entrant angles or complex carved shapes.

The term "counter-angled" refers to the shape of the blade, which is bent or "counter-angled" relative to the tool's axis. This provides a better approach to the cutting edge at difficult angles while maintaining the precision of a clean cut. This geometry is particularly useful in 3D sculpting, artistic modeling, or for creating recessed reliefs that straight tools cannot handle without pivots or adjustments in technique.

Each cutting edge width is designed for a specific use:
- 6 mm: very fine work, precise details.
- 10 mm & 13 mm: moderate removal in narrow areas or corners.
- 20 mm, 25 mm & 30 mm: larger surfaces, substantial clearances while maintaining a comfortable working angle.
