The Cerax 1000/3000 grit stone is a Japanese reconstituted sharpening stone, prized for its ability to quickly create an abrasive slurry and for its efficient sharpening progression:
- 1000 grit – intermediate sharpening stage to reshape or sharpen dull edges,
- Grain 3000 – finishing phase to refine the wire and reduce micro-irregularities.

Before use, the stone must be immediately immersed in water (water tray provided) for a few minutes, allowing the body of the stone to become saturated with water: this is essential for the stone to develop an abrasive mud facilitating regular and effective abrasion.
This stone is suitable for a very wide range of tools: from knife blades to wood chisels, including tools of Japanese or European origin, for regular sharpening or restoration.

The surface of the stone can be dry-ground (on abrasive paper placed on a flat surface such as a glass plate or machine table) if it were to wear unevenly over time.
