A straight gouge with a V-shaped profile, more or less closed; 35° being the most closed angle, 45° and 60° intermediate, and 90° the most open. This tool is used to draw directly on the wood, much like a pencil, to distribute the different masses and also to mark the veins and splits of leaves in ornamental carving.
