Interview :
- Clean after use: wipe off wood dust and marking residue from the blades and the plate.
- Regular sharpening: sharpen the blades on a suitable stone to maintain a clean and precise edge.
- Protect the wood: occasionally apply a light oil or wax to the oak turntable to preserve the wood.
- Check the fixings: check the wing nut to ensure stable locking of the blades.

The Japanese Kebiki marking gauge is a traditional marking tool, ideal for carpenters, cabinetmakers, and joiners who need precise markings on wood before machining or assembly. Unlike classic marking gauges with a point, the Kebiki uses sliding blades that cut the wood fibers, producing very sharp marking lines.

The wide plate made of Japanese white oak provides stable support against the edge of the workpiece, while the brass wing nut locks the blade(s) in the desired position. The use of high-carbon, forged Japanese steel blades ensures long life and easy sharpening on a whetstone.

Depending on the marking requirements, it is possible to use either blade — or both together, in particular to simultaneously mark the two edges of a tenon or mortise.
