The Kotagana Standard knife is an indispensable tool in marquetry and cabinetmaking for making precise lines or cutting veneers with great finesse.

Its hand-forged carbon steel blade provides excellent edge retention, while the unique right-hand bevel allows for efficient cutting when the tool is pressed against a ruler or guide. The perfectly flat opposite face is ideal for smooth movement along a surface, improving accuracy and reducing unwanted marks.

This tool is available in several blade widths (3mm, 6mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm), each suited to a specific use:

- 6 mm for fine lines or delicate details,
- 12 mm for general veneer cuts,
- 18 mm for wider or faster cuts.

Sharpening should be done mainly on water stones, preferably Japanese, or on water wheels, in order to preserve the cutting edge and the geometry of the bevel.
