The 100mm multi-shaped Japanese stones are sharpening stones designed for the maintenance of carving and woodworking tools. They are multi-shaped — that is to say, they have a conical surface along their length, with rounded and beveled edges, to facilitate sharpening on various tool geometries.

Usage & conditions
Before use, each stone should be immersed in water for a few minutes to become thoroughly saturated, which promotes efficient and clean abrasion during sharpening.

The working surface can be rectified by rubbing the dry stone on abrasive paper placed on a perfectly flat surface (e.g. glass plate or machine table), in order to recover optimal flatness if necessary.

Why several grains
- 1000 grit — medium grit stone, used for classic sharpening conditions: shaping the bevel and removing defects.
- 4000 grit — fine grit stone, suitable for more delicate sharpening or pre-finishing the edge.
- 8000 grit — very fine stone, perfect for finishing and polishing the edge to a very smooth state.
