The camellia oil applicator bottle (Aburatsubo) is a traditional Japanese container intended for the maintenance and lubrication of cutting tools.
It is sold empty and designed to be filled with camellia oil, known for its protective and lubricating properties on steels.

This bottle has two complementary functions:

Application by cotton
The cotton tip allows you to lightly soak the oil and spread it directly onto the blades:
wood chisels,
carving gouges,
knives,
plane soles,
in order to protect them against oxidation and improve glide during cutting.

Direct dipping of the blades
By unscrewing the top part of the bottle, it is possible to dip the blade of a wood chisel or mortise chisel directly into it.
This method is particularly effective for making mortises: the lubricated blade penetrates the wood more easily and improves working comfort.

Compact, simple and very practical, the Aburatsubo is an indispensable accessory in a sculpture, cabinetmaking or traditional woodworking workshop.
